Covernote is a complete website for a commercial insurance broker, built around the number a comparison quote never shows: what the policy would actually pay.

Commercial property cover carries a condition of average. Set a sum insured below the real reinstatement cost and the insurer reduces every claim by that same proportion, small claims included. It is in almost every policy and almost nobody reads it. A business insured for 500,000 against a 750,000 rebuild is 33% underinsured: a 100,000 fire claim pays 66,667, and a 10,000 escape of water claim, which feels comfortably inside the cover, pays 6,667. The proportion withheld never changes with the size of the loss, and that is the row that changes the conversation.

The calculator splits the shortfall into its two causes, because they are not the same thing to a client: the excess is a number they agreed to, and the average deduction is the one nobody told them about. A scenario table re-runs the same sums at five claim sizes. Raise the sum insured to meet the reinstatement cost and the deduction disappears entirely. It appears twice, on the home page and on the cover page, and the two instances carry independent figures.

Set throughout in Public Sans with tabular figures switched on, because this template is mostly columns of money and proportional figures make a column jump. Nine colour tokens, every one carrying a dark value, so the site follows the visitor's system theme and rebranding is a colour change rather than a rebuild.
