About this template

Playhead turns a director's portfolio into an editing suite. Visitors scrub your reel on a real timeline, watch it in a program monitor and read each film's details in an inspector — the way you'd review a cut.

What's inside

Edit Suite — program monitor, clip inspector and a four-track timeline (V2, V1, A1, A2) with ruler and timecode. Hover to scrub, click a clip to open the film. The reel plays on its own when nobody is touching it.

Cinema mode — one button (or the C key) puts the monitor full screen. Arrow keys or a swipe move between films, and the interface fades away after a moment.

CMS film pages — every film gets its own page with a player letterboxed to its real aspect ratio (1.37, 1.66, 1.85, 2.39…), timecode and scrub bar, details, credits, stills, festival laurels and a link to the next film.

Filmography — a CMS list sorted by year. Hover a title and a preview of the film follows the cursor.

About and contact — bio, clients, representation, laurels and a big mailto call to action.

Responsive — desktop, tablet and phone layouts. On touch screens the first tap previews a clip and the second opens it. Custom 404, colour and text styles, and a shared layout template.

Easy to make yours

Add films in the CMS: title, type, client, year, runtime, camera, aspect ratio, logline, colour, clip, poster, stills, credits and laurels. Edit the reel in the Edit Suite's properties — pick the films, clip colours and how long each one sits on the timeline. Colours and fonts are exposed as properties too.

Good to know

The Edit Suite reel is set in the component's properties, separate from the CMS, because Framer code components can't read CMS collections. All demo footage was generated for the template and is included; swap in your own clips. Fonts: Gloock, Geist and Geist Mono.
